Classroom Reveal 2017-2018

After having the same classroom decor for three years, I decided to change things up a bit. I thought about my prior students, and chose to go with Pete the Cat decor and primary colors.

I saw the idea for ribbon curtains on Pinterest and made them my first year. I changed to primary colors to go with my current theme.

Upon entering my classroom you can see my parent information sign. I like to keep important and current info hung on a bulletin board for parents to see.

A colleague told me that I could find Pete the Cat light covers on Amazon. They are super cute! They are a bit expensive so I only bought one pack of three. My kids love them and they create a nice soft light. You can get them here.

I created number posters, clock numbers, word wall letters and a few other items you can find in my Rainbow Dots Classroom Decor pack on TPT. I did lower the size on the word wall letters prior to printing to work better with my word wall size.

I also purchased a new classroom rug as my old one was starting to fall apart! This On the Spot Classroom Seating Rug is reasonable in price and makes it easy to manage my students during carpet time. I purchased the one with 24 dots.

My students love sharing their writing in the Share Chair. I used acrylic paint on it after sanding and the did a spray matte clear coat. I’ve used Deanna Jump’s writer’s workshop in the past and use the share passes to decide who gets to sit in the chair and share with the class. We are using the Journeys program this year but I plan on keeping share time as students really benefit from reading their own writing outloud.

My first grade colleague and I use brag tags but she very cleverly changed it to S.W.A.G. (Skills, Will Power, Achievement, Goals) as we didn’t like the negative connotation often associated with the word brag. I used command hooks on the closet door to hang the necklaces on when not in use and this storage drawer (found at Lowes) to store the individual tags

Well, I think that’s about it! I hope you got a few useful ideas and enjoyed your look at my classroom! Have a good year!
